Prepaid eSIM for France · Local 4G/5G networks

France eSIM for tourists and travelers

eSpeedz France eSIM plans start at $8.99 for 30 days of prepaid data, from 5GB to 50GB. You install the emailed QR code before you leave and it connects when you arrive in France, so maps and train tickets work from the moment you land.

A few days in Paris, then a TGV south? Keep your maps, train tickets and museum bookings working the whole way.

Staying connected in France

A week in Paris on your carrier's day pass comes to $84 at the $12 daily rate AT&T and Verizon charge, before you've even left the city. T-Mobile includes basic data in France at up to 256kbps, which is enough for texts but struggles with maps and photo uploads. A prepaid eSIM gives you full-speed data for the whole trip at one price.

If France is one stop on a longer European trip, this part matters: our 35-area Europe plan does not cover France. Combining Paris with Italy or Spain? Choose the 41-country Europe plan, which includes France along with neighbors like Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and the UK. For France alone, the France plan is the better value.

Download SNCF Connect for trains, Bonjour RATP or Citymapper for the Paris metro, and TheFork for restaurant bookings. Strikes are a fact of French travel life, and these apps are the quickest way to see which lines are actually running. Paris has free public wifi in many parks and libraries, but sign-ups and session limits make it unreliable for navigation, and onboard wifi on fast trains tends to come and go between cities.

How much data do you need?

A Paris city break of four to seven days usually fits in 5GB: metro routing, museum tickets, restaurant searches and messaging. Two weeks with a road trip through Provence or the Loire Valley, plus lots of photos and video, is more comfortable on 10 to 20GB. Navigation on long drives is the sneaky data user, so download offline maps for rural areas either way.

Best time to visit

May, June and September are lovely nearly everywhere: mild weather, long evenings and smaller crowds than July and August, when many Parisians head for the coast and some small restaurants close for their own vacation. Provence's lavender is at its best from late June into July, and the Alps are a winter destination from December to April.

Entry tip: France applies the EU's Entry/Exit System, live in full since April 10, 2026. There's nothing to do before you travel, but at your first Schengen entry the border officer will take a photo of your face and, for anyone 12 or older, your fingerprints. Official source.

France travel tips

Check for strikes before travel days
Rail and metro strikes in France are usually announced ahead of time. SNCF Connect and the Paris transit apps flag disrupted services, so check the night before and again the morning of any train day.
Book timed tickets for the big museums
The Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay and the Eiffel Tower all sell timed tickets online, and summer slots go fast. Keep the QR codes in your phone's wallet or as screenshots so you're not hunting for signal at the door.
Pick the right Europe plan for Eurostar trips
Taking the Eurostar to London or the train to Brussels? A France plan stops at the border. The 41-country Europe plan covers France, the UK and Belgium on one eSIM.
Download offline maps for the countryside
Signal is solid in towns, but it can fade in the high Alps, the Gorges du Verdon and the rural Dordogne. Offline Google Maps keeps you navigating on those winding roads.

France eSIM questions

You don't need one, but it's the cheapest easy way to stay connected. AT&T and Verizon charge $12 a day for roaming, while a prepaid France eSIM covers your whole trip for one price.
It depends on the plan. The eSpeedz 41-country Europe plan includes France, but the 35-area plan does not, so check before you buy if France is anywhere on your route.
5GB is plenty for most visitors: metro directions, museum bookings, restaurant searches and messaging. If you'll be posting a lot of video from the Seine, go for 10GB.
For most short trips, an eSIM is easier. A French SIM means finding a phone shop, showing your passport and going through activation, while an eSIM is installed at home and works when you land.
No, the France plan only covers France. For a Paris and London trip, choose the 41-country Europe plan, which covers both, or add a UK plan.
Yes. WhatsApp, iMessage and FaceTime all work over the eSIM's data connection, so you can message and video call as you would at home.
No, it's data-only with no French phone number. Use WhatsApp, iMessage or FaceTime for calls and messages. Your phone needs to be eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked.
eSpeedz doesn't sell unlimited plans for France. The largest plan is 50GB for 30 days at $56.99, which covers maps, social media and video calls for most trips. Many plans sold as unlimited slow down after a daily fair-use limit, so compare the fine print.
